Walking routes

Zinkenkogel via Wasserleitungweg (one direction appx. 2 hours - hiking through the Salzburger and Berchtesgadener Land)

You reach the Zinkenkogel with a moderate hike from its Bavarian side.

From the parking lot of the Zinkenlifte follow the small asphalt road and turn right into a small dirt road (access to the houses), then the path leads over the ski slope up to the district Gmerk. At the "Sulzauhof" turn right and then turn left to the border point Gmerk. A little later, on the Bavarian side, the so-called "Wasserleitungsweg" branches off to the left. Follow this way first along the edge of the forest, later through the forest always parallel to Roßfeldstraße to the Ferienhaus Heißbäck. Turn left at the house and go uphill for about 20 minutes in the direction of the Zinkenkogel.

Here you have two options either the sharply left branching Alpinsteig (for experienced hikers) here you reach the summit in about 40 minutes or the more comfortable route, which leads into the "Wichtelwanderweg". Behind the summit cross a narrow path leads to the mountain restaurant "Zinkenstüberl", where you have a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and you can enjoy refreshments.

The path down the valley follows along the chairlift on a gravel road. At the crossroads, turn left, go over a meadow, following the course of the toboggan run, back to the parking lot of the Zinkenlifte.

Alternately you can go downhill with the toboggan run "Keltenblitz" or for the less courageous comfortably descend with the double chairlift.

Zinkenkogel via Abtswald, Predigtstuhl and Stockerhöhe (moderately steep, one direction appx. 1.5 hours)

From the parking lot of the Zinkenlifte you follow the asphalt road up to the barrier at Hinterstockergut, then on the forest road uphill in the direction of the "Predigtstuhl". At the road Junction turn right towards Zinkenkogel. The path follows the toboggan run to the mountain restaurant "Zinkenstüberl". The track is steep in part and runs partly through the forest. It offers beautiful views of the Salzachtal.

There is also a shortcut to the Zinkenkogel via the Osthang (in winter the cross-country route). The path is partly steep and is on the sunside.
